Year after year, Lady Gaga always provides us with a heap of inspiration for fun and unusual Halloween costumes! 2011 was no exception. Here are three of the most memorable outfits for you to choose from.

1) The Meat Dress

The meat dress may have been famously worn by Gaga last year, but it’ll still be a big hit at Halloween costume parties in 2011. Unfortunately, it really isn’t easy or hygienic to wear the real thing, but there are ways to go about creating your own fake meat.

The best idea is to get hold of various meat-colored fabrics. Try getting a few shades of pink or red, and piecing strips together over a basic undergarment. Lady Gaga’s dress was wrapped around her and longer at the sides than the front and back. She finished off the outfit with a meat headpiece and meat shoes.

2) The Egg

To launch her “Born This Way” album and single, Lady Gaga took the birth concept to her clothing. She arrived at the Grammys incubating inside a giant egg. This one might not be so easy for you to pull off for Halloween, but it’s worth a shot!

There are usually a number of egg Halloween costumes available to buy readymade at this time of year, but unfortunately most of them are in the form of a fried egg or “deviled” egg. To make a more round egg shape is going to take some extra effort, but it is possible!

This Halloween, why not dress up as a superhero. There are plenty of different comic books from which you can take inspiration. Once you start looking you will discover that there are some excellent costumes to choose from. One fancy dress outfit that you could consider is the big and bold character of Iron Man.

Who Is Iron Man?
Iron Man is a Marvel comic book hero. He made his first appearance in 1963. Iron Man is the alter ego of a man called Anthony Edward Stark, or Tony to his friends. His is a very rich billionaire who is also a highly skilled engineer and owns an industrial corporation that produces weapons and equipment for the military. He is kidnapped by a group of extremists who force him to build a weapon of mass destruction. During the kidnapping he gets badly injured and in order to save his own life, he creates a body suit with a power source that actually keeps him alive. He adds some built in weaponry and use this body armour to escape captivity. He then goes on to help fight crime by producing lots more weapons, some of which are incorporated into his distinctive power suit.

Tony is a super intelligent individual and the suit provides him with the ability of superhuman strength, the capability of fly and extreme speed. This all helps to make him a great superhero that is there to defend the good and the great.

What Makes Up the Iron Man Halloween Costume?

The Iron Man costume is made up of two main parts; the all in one jumpsuit and the head mask. The red jumpsuit has been printed with a pattern that resembles the body armour of Iron Man’s power suit. This includes lots of intricate detail work using reds, blacks and gold colouring to produce the printed graphics on the legs, arms and torso of the costume. The upper torso, shoulders and biceps on this suit have also been padded in order to replicate the expansive chest that this superhero has.

Iron Man’s Power Source

One of the important elements of this costume is the power source, known as the arc reactor which enables Tony to live. This has been created in different ways on different costumes. You can buy a suit where a reflective fabric as been used to represent this or you can buy a great outfit which features a light up pack that is powered by batteries. This would certainly make you stand out at any Halloween party.

Iron Man’s Mask

The final part of this costume is the head mask or helmet. It is made in the same colours as the suit, a combination of red and gold. Most stores will sell the helmet as part of the package, but you can also purchase the helmet separately.
